I’m attending the SOS!SEN Conference, a weekend workshop for
parents and professionals. This will be held again at the Langdon Down Centre,
Teddington, TW11 3PS. Last year's was excellent. Very good rate if applying
before 28th February. Your chance to listen (and talk to) John Friel – eminent
education barrister - and Melinda Nettleton – SEN specialist solicitor – and
others in the same field. Wonderful talks and a mock SENDIST Tribunal. If you
are facing one of these this is an invaluable experience.

Autism Cymru Conference in Cardiff, Wales
I attended the year before last and listened to Tony Attwood and a married
couple (Gisela and Christopher I think). Christopher has Asperger’s Syndrome and
they’ve written a book to try to help other married couples. Again, I felt the
long drive was worth it. There are some very big names at the conference this
year; Tony Attwood again (he was terrific and really knows his onions),
professor Simon Baron-Cohen (who is another chap I have a lot of time for) and
Dame Steve Shirley, who has done so much for the Autistic cause in this country.
Look at the website for the full list of speakers.

‘Mums the word’.
This sounds very nice. £10. I’m doing a bit of a chat in the morning and then
they are offering a pampering session to attendees in the afternoon – and we
could all do with a bit of pampering, eh!

Following Maria Hutchings brave confrontation with Mr. Blair on live TV I was interviewed live on BBC Radio 4 Today Programme along with Stephen Ladyman and Tim Collins Shadow Education Minister in February.
National Autistic Society have written a review (which they tell me is very positive). This is due to be published in next NAS magazine due shortly.
Very positive comments on Amazon and a very good ranking
Extremely positive comments from readers in UK and US. One reader, who is the headmaster of a special needs school in Worcester, contacted me to ask for flyers as he wanted to send one to each of the parents of his 150 pupils as he knows the battles they are involved in.
Various woman’s magazines have expressed an interest however, I will not allow them photographs of children (as I want to protect their anonymity) so have decided not to pursue this for the time being.
